Hardware in office furniture

The concept of "hardware" is a common saying, and the standard classification should be divided into two categories: black metal and non-ferrous metal. It is used in furniture in several types: tubular, rod-shaped, plate-shaped, linear, and angular.

Black metal parts in office furniture

Mainly referring to iron products, its advantages are: deformation resistance, high strength, good wear resistance, high hardness, low price, and long service life. Belonging to carbon iron alloy, it is divided into high carbon steel, low carbon steel, and medium carbon steel; It is divided into several categories: round tube, square tube, angle iron, and steel plate. Round tubes are mainly used for chair products; Square tubes are used for beams and brackets; Steel plates are mainly used for table baffles, screen panels, pendants, brackets, metal cabinets, doors, etc.

Disadvantages of steel products: easy to rust, heavy volume, and fear of moisture

The methods to solve the above defects include electroplating, spraying, black and blue treatment, etc.

There are many methods for processing and forming hardware parts, including bending, punching, drilling, welding, cutting, and pressing. In short, process according to design requirements or product requirements.

Nonferrous metal parts in office furniture

Refers to all metal parts except for iron products, such as aluminum, copper, zinc, stainless steel, etc. It has a characteristic of being less prone to rusting and having lower strength than black metals. It is commonly used in furniture, including aluminum plates, aluminum rods, stainless steel pipes, stainless steel plates, copper plates, and zinc plates.

Stainless steel parts: Stainless steel parts are divided into two categories: stainless steel and stainless steel. They are commonly referred to as "430" for stainless steel and "304" for pure stainless steel. One method to distinguish them is to test with a magnet. "430" can be attracted by the magnet, while "304" cannot. The proportion of stainless steel parts is slightly higher than that of iron products, but the price is more than four times higher than that of iron products. Therefore, only * products are used.

Copper products: Copper products are divided into pure copper and copper alloys. Pure copper, also known as purple copper, has poor strength and hardness, but good toughness. Copper alloy is commonly used in furniture as brass, which is a zinc based alloy copper. The price of pure copper is slightly higher than that of 304 stainless copper by 30-40%, while brass is priced 20% lower than pure copper. Copper alloy has slightly higher hardness and strength than stainless copper, but is prone to fracture and has greater brittleness. The main applications of copper parts in furniture are handles and embedded screws. To prevent rusting, pure copper generally needs to be electroplated before use, while brass is not needed, and is less commonly used in furniture products.

Zinc products: Pure zinc products are less commonly used and are mainly used in combination with zinc alloys or steel. Such as galvanized sheet, electrolytic sheet, etc. Less used in furniture due to poor strength of zinc products. Zinc alloy accessories such as eccentric buckles, structural component connection points (components), etc. The proportion of zinc alloy is slightly lower than that of iron by about 6.8, and its price is between steel and aluminum alloy. Most zinc alloys are produced in the form of die castings for furniture accessories.

Titanium and zirconium alloys: These are relatively expensive metals that are mostly used in furniture in the form of electroplating. They are used in handles, hinges, and exposed connectors for high gears or in hotel furniture. Its electroplating cost is about 40% higher than the cost of chrome plating, but its appearance is similar to gold and silver products, with excellent wear resistance and no rusting.

Casting Metal in Office Furniture

Many furniture hardware products use castings, such as handles and door hinges. Currently, there are many popular casting production processes in the market, such as precision casting, die casting, and casting. The casting materials include brass, stainless steel, zinc tin alloy, and aluminum alloy. Features of casting products: exquisite, unique shape, etc. The disadvantage is that the cost of a single piece is high, and the cost of different casting processes varies, ranging from high to low. For precision casting and die casting, the mold cost ranges from high to low, which is precision casting and die casting. The disadvantage of casting products is that the production cycle is slightly increased, and the product needs to go through 2-3 processes to make qualified accessories. The accessories also need to be electroplated, polished, drawn, sandblasted, and sprayed according to different requirements.
